Recent purchases from here & there

Hey everyone! I've done a lot of shopping in the last couple of months & haven't posted the stuff here. So I figured, why not do one post with a few photographs? So here's the stuff
The new Ray-Bans mentioned in this post (gift from parents).
Aren't they exquisite? I love that they're all polished & shiny looking because they're new (You see, after a little bit of my signature handling they will not look *this* great.
I think I am obsessed with the browline frame. And I am fully aware that this is a rather crappy picture, do you know how hard it is to click photos of sunglasses? =( (Trust me I've tried!)
Ahhh... this is a sort of sneak-peek photo. Showing you my newest beach dress from Monsoon Accessorize.
I love all the stuff from Accessorize, even though it's so overpriced. (This is also a gift from mom!) I find it so incredibly cute!! Can't wait for summer vacation when I get to wear this!
Black wedges from Catwalk.
I am very clumsy & inexperienced when it comes to high heel shoes (yes 4" for me qualifies as a high heel!) I do have stiletto heeled, peep toe booties that are a little above 4" (previously seen in this post). They're fab, but I can't be on my feet for more than 5 minutes in them. Since then, I have always been in search of the perfect wedges. A while ago I found these in Catwalk & mom bought them for me. I still am slightly clumsy in them, but I must say that wedges are definitely easier to walk in than stilettos!
New Foce wrist watch.
And this wrist watch... what can I say? I'm very sure that a few months ago I would've hated this watch because I was all about bohemian & funky stuff & this would be too conservative & granny-like for me. But tastes change. It's not that I don't like bohemian & funky anymore, but I am experimenting with new style like Rocker Chic, vintage, Old British Lady Florals, neon & more! And as part of the vintage obsession, I have wanted a menswear like watch. Of course I realized I couldn't go in for an actual men's watch because the huge dial would smother my wrist. So I settled for this. The brown leather strap & the gold dial make it look very vintage-y according to me (mom doesn't think so, what do you think?) This wrist watch is also from mom. *sigh* it has just dawned on me that she bought me everything from this post.
So that's all the photos I clicked (though it's definitely not all the stuff I bought!)
I just noticed that all three things are inherently summer-themed. Two explanations for that: 1. In a tropical climate like the type we have in Mumbai, it's almost always summer. Only in the last few weeks has the city gotten somewhat chilly. Anyway, winter here doesn't last more than 3 months.
I am expecting over six different things in the mail... they should have been here over a week ago, they're probably stuck in customs or something. That, of course, makes me very very angry. If some of that stuff comes real soon, I might show it to you guys, otherwise this is the last post of the year!
Take Care!

Hair Inspiration

Hi everybody! First off, how was your Christmas? My folks are away at the moment so I didn't do much... we're gonna have a late Christmas celebration sometimes after New Year's day. I love hair color! I still remember the first shade I ever used- 'Schwarzkopf Palette 5-99 Rosewood Violet' (No I didn't learn the shade by heart... I kept the shade card!) The shade was a beautiful purple but since I hadn't bleached my hair earlier the Purple was only visible in the sun or with a light source from behind. I loved it, even though it (temporarily) damaged my hair a little. The next shade I used was a dark brown from Revlon (don't remember the exact name, but I know that it was Ammonia-free hair color). I was a bit skeptical about using Ammonia free hair color because I didn't think the color would be vibrant enough, also I thought it would fade  very fast because it's not usually permanent. But I have to say I am very happy with it! It's a beautiful brown, again mostly visible in the sun, it gives all the beauty of air color without any of the damage! Anyway I'm rambling again. Here's what I wanted to show you:

This is just a very early announcement for a giveaway I hope to have in the future. I have already started putting together some stuff for a gift bag. I will have this giveaway when my followers (via Google friend Connect) reach 99 or Style Criminal gets 99 fans on Facebook or I get 9999 views on my hit counter (right sidebar) or I complete a year of blogging on Style Criminal (August 16th 2011). Just wanted to let you people know!

Lakmé Fruit Blast

Lakmé is one of the oldest & most trusted cosmetic brands here in India. Ask almost any older member of your family & chances are they started out with Lakmé. As a matter of fact, my first powder compact was Lakmé. So now I managed to get hold of four face washes & one face pack from the Lakmé Fruit Blast range. My Indian readers have probably seen this commercial on TV.

It has Indian models Amrit Maghera, Lisa Haydon & Vipasha Agarwal in it. It also has a really catchy jingle. I have loved it since the first time I saw it.

So anyway, here's what I got:
So here's what I got (left to right)
  • Lakmé Fruit Blast Citrus Rain - FruitDetox Face Wash with Mandarin Extracts
  • Lakmé Fruit Blast Strawberry Face Wash - Gentle Exfoliant for Smooth Skin
  • Lakmé Fruit Blast Pear Butter - Deep Hydrating Mask with Pear & Shea Butter
  • Lakmé Fruit Blast Berry Lush - Fruit Energizing Face Wash with Strawberries & Raspberries
  • Lakmé Fruit Blast Melon Melt - Fruit Quench Face Wash with Muskmelon & Watermelon
So I ended up getting four face washes & a face pack. I love how they all smell! So fruity & yummy (I love fruity smelling products... and vanilla!)
I intend to do something I haven't done before... review these products. In the next few days I'm going to try them out, so expect a review soon!

Winter's here. Time for Vanilla Heaven

It's December, so it's winter time almost all over the world (yeah it's summer in the southern hemisphere!)
Since the past few months I have been coming across beautiful winter things on foreign fashion blogs: leather gloves, mittens, blazers, trench coats, knit beanies, earmuffs, leg warmers... you get the idea! Of course it's not just the internet. Local malls are full of that stuff too. I saw leg warmers at lifestyle, cute leather gloves at Aldo & a really beautiful (but oh-so-expensive!) trench coat at Mango. Looking at those things makes me pine for a 'real' winter here.
But when winter actually comes, I'm not too happy. You see, I'm a summer baby. I was born in April, when the heat is at it's worst (or best) here. I like summer. I don't really mind all the sweating & the fact that I tan easily makes me turn ten shades darker. The hottest summer I ever experienced was Florida. There was little or no sweating... but you could actually feel the burn. Spending a few days at the poolside actually burnt off one layer of skin on the soles of my feet (don't worry, it's not as bad as it sounds!)
Anyway, enough about summer. You know what I hate most about winter? It's not the cold but the skin dryness! I am extremely lazy when it comes to moisturizing & skin care.
And that is why I love this so much:
Warm Vanilla Body Butter
My mom gets me the best things, even if it's just by chance. She bought me this even though she didn't know then that vanilla is my most favorite scent in the entire world. Just a photo can show you visual beauty, I wish there was some way I could describe this product to you. You probably already know how great body butters are. But this one is 'warm vanilla'. I have no idea how the vanilla actually smells warm, but it does! It has the exact same effect eating comfort food has, but this works on your olfactory nerves rather than your taste buds & stomach. I am in Vanilla heaven right now.

Mommy in Rebecca Bonbon

This time I have decided to do something different & feature my dearest mom here on Style Criminal!
About her style: She is very simple. She used to be a jeans & t shirt person but then she discovered Salwar Kameezes & has never been happier. She finds them very comfy. Hardly ever (I mean it!) uses make up. And when she does it's just lipstick & eyeliner. Accessory wise, she liked dainty, elegant jewellery (mostly diamonds). So the look is very simple, just like her!!
My Mom :) Aware that the photo isn't too good because I was in a hurry & this is the only one I snapped :(
The embellished zipper pocket. And that cute li'l bulldog is none other than Rebecca BonBon.
A closer look at the necklace.
Sooo.... some background on this outfit. The Rebecca BonBon blouse is via Chictopia. I have been there for a month & a half & am completely loving it. (If you're on Chictopia do add me as a friend & if you like my style maybe you could become my fan? When I saw the blouse was available in Medium only, I knew it would be too loose for me. But I also knew it would be perfect for mom! So I got it for her. When she saw it she thought the neckline was too low but when she tried it I could tell she liked it. :)
And the accessories. She usually likes wearing dainty gold jewellery but since it was clashing with the silver zipper pocket I asked her to remove it. And then she wore this. Usually our tastes in jewellery are very different because she's not a fan of costume jewellery. But she really took to this necklace.

She is wearing-
Rebecca BonBon for Kmart blouse (via Chictopia)
St John's Bay trousers
Blend Fashion Accessories Necklace

In other news. Mom & me went on an epic shopping spree the other day. Now I have my fourth pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses. I *love* their sunglasses even though they are so expensive. So now my Ray-Ban collection includes Vintage Wayfarers (passed on by mom), Colorize Clubmasters, Black Clubmasters & New Wayfarers (& the latter three were all bought within the last year! Thanks mom). We also picked up Burberry Perfume, a felt tipped eyeliner (because I don't really have a steady hand) and mom picked up an awesome pair of leather flats (because she only wears flats!!) I also saw a beautiful houndstooth scarf & fell in love with it. Red & black & oh so classy. But it was the last piece & not in a good condition so I didn't buy it. Too bad. :(
That's all for now.

XOXO,
